Phaser 6180MFP Multifunction Printer Service Manual 2-9Theory of OperationDevelopmentToner is electrically attached to the invisible electrostatic latent image on thedrum surface to form the visible toner image on the Drum.The toner in the Print Cartridge is agitated by the built-in Agitator and fed intothe Developer part. The Augers are driven by the Toner Motor and theDeveloper Motor in the Main Drive. The toner to be consumed according tothe print count is calculated and fed into the Developer. This process is calledToner Dispensation, which is controlled by two processes: Pixel CountDispense Control (PCDC) and Automatic Density Control (ADC).The toner fed into the Developer and the carrier in the Developer are agitatedby the Auger, and supplied to the Magnet Roll arranged in the drum surfacearea. The toner and carrier are charged by friction due to agitation (toner innegative, carrier in positive), and they are absorbed electrically.
