6-30Printing Environment Settings6SETUP Menu SettingsMANUAL 2-SIDED1ST SIDE*, 2ND SIDESpecifies the printing side of the plain paper or heavy paper loaded in themulti-purpose tray when performing 2-sided printing.When printing the front side (the side you print first) of the paper, specify 1STSIDE.When printing the reverse side of previously printed paper, specify 2ND SIDE.IMPORTANTBe sure to specify 2ND SIDE before printing the other side of previously printedpaper with this printer.2-SIDED PRINT.OFF*, ONSpecifies whether the printer should print on one side or both sides of the paper.If ON is specified, the printer prints on both sides of the paper.IMPORTANTWhen printing from Windows or Macintosh, specify 2-sided printing in the printerdriver. When you want to print from a computer in which an operating system suchas MS-DOS and UNIX is used and cannot specify 2-sided printing, specify thesetting in this item.NOTE• Automatic 2-sided printing can be performed only on plain paper (60 to 105 g/m2 ),heavy paper (106 to 120 g/m2 ), and coated paper (105 to 120 g/m2 ) at a size of A4,Legal, Letter, or Foolscap. For more details, see "Usable Paper," on p. 4-2.• When performing automatic 2-sided printing on paper with a logo, load the paperas the following.- When printing from the paper cassette, load the paper with the printing side of thefirst page facing down.- When printing from the multi-purpose tray, load the paper with the printing side ofthe first page facing up.• You can specify the same setting in 2-SIDED PRINT. in the SELECT FEEDERmenu.
