5-9Menu Functions and Menu OperationThe Printing Environment5Menu Functions and Menu OperationThis section describes the overview of the menus and operating procedures forthem.SETUP MenuThis section describes the function of the SETUP menu and the operatingprocedure for it.SETUP Menu FunctionsThe SETUP menu allows you to configure a variety of printing environment such asprinting position, type of character set, and the selection of the interface forconnecting the printer to the computer.Normally, you can configure a printing environment using an application or theprinter driver in a computer connected to the printer. However, some settings suchas interface configuration can be specified only in the SETUP menu of the printer.Also, you can print using an application in which you cannot specify the printsettings or MS-DOS command directly. When you are printing using them, specifythe printing environment using the SETUP menu in the printer.NOTEFor more details on the settings, see "SETUP Menu Settings," on p. 6-13.Operating Procedure for the SETUP MenuThe SETUP menu consists of three hierarchies: "Option", "Item", and "SettingValue".
