Model 2461 Interactive SourceMeter® Instrument Reference Manual Section 4: Source-measure considerations2461-901-01 A/November 2015 4-11Noise shieldUse a noise shield to prevent the introduction of unwanted signals into the test circuit. Low-levelsignals may benefit from effective shielding. The metal noise shield surrounds the test circuit andshould be connected to LO, as shown.Figure 151: Model 2461 rear-panel noise shield connectionsSafety shieldA safety shield must be used whenever hazardous voltages (>30 V RMS, 42 V peak) will bepresent in the test circuit. To prevent electrical shock that could cause injury or death, never use the Model 2461 in a test circuit that may contain hazardous voltages without aproperly installed and configured safety shield. The safety shield can be metallic or nonconductive, and must completely surround the DUT testcircuit. A metal safety shield must be connected to a known protective earth (safety ground). See Testfixtures (on page 2-95) for important safety information on the use of a metal or a nonconductiveenclosure.
