Image processing may alsocause some loss of image quality.RAW ImagesThe “raw” (unprocessed) data, recorded withessentially no loss of image quality from thecamera’s image processing. The data cannot beused in this state for viewing on a computer orprinting. You must first use the software (DigitalPhoto Professional) (= 158) to convert images toordinary JPEG or TIFF files. Images can be adjustedwith minimal loss of image quality.Image Customization FeaturesChanging Image QualityStill Images MoviesYou can select the resolution (size) and quality (compression ratio) ofyour recorded images from a combination of 8 types. You can also definewhether to save RAW images (= 43) or not. For guidelines on howmany shots at each quality setting can fit on a memory card, see “Numberof Shots per Memory Card” (= 195).● Press the [ ] button, choose [ ] in themenu, and choose the desired option(=31).● The option you configured is nowdisplayed.● To restore the original setting, repeat thisprocess but choose [ ].● [ ] and [ ] indicate the different levels of image quality causedby different compression rates. If using the same resolution, [ ]will produce better image quality. [ ] will result in slightly lowerimage quality, but will enable you to record more images. [ ] and[ ] feature [ ] image quality.● Not available in [ ] mode.
