For details on the number of shots andrecording time possible with a fully charged battery pack, see“Power Supplies” (= 195).● Charged battery packs gradually lose their charge, even whenthey are not used. Charge the battery pack on (or immediatelybefore) the day of use.● As a visual reminder of the charge status, attach the battery coverwith visible on a charged battery pack and concealed on anuncharged one.● The charger can be used in regions with 100–240 V ACpower (50/60 Hz). For power outlets in a different format, usea commercially available adapter for the plug. Never use anelectrical transformer designed for traveling, which may damagethe battery pack.Inserting the Battery Pack and Memory CardInsert the included battery pack and a memory card (sold separately).Note that before using a new memory card (or a memory card formattedin another device), you should format the memory card with this camera(= 138).1 Open the cover.● Slide the cover (1) and open it (2).2 Insert the battery pack.● Holding the battery pack with theterminals (1) facing as shown, move thebattery lock down (2) and insert until thelock clicks shut.● If you insert the battery pack facing thewrong way, it cannot be locked into thecorrect position. Always confirm that thebattery pack is facing the right way andlocks when inserted.● LC-E17E: Plug the power cord into thecharger and then plug the other end intoa power outlet.● The charging lamp turns orange, andcharging begins.● When charging is finished, the lamp turnsgreen.3 Remove the battery pack.● After unplugging the battery charger,remove the battery pack by pushing it in(1) and up (2).● Do not touch the battery charger plug for approximately 5 sec.after removing the charger from the outlet.● To protect the battery pack and keep it in optimal condition, do notcharge it continuously for more than 24 hours.● For battery chargers that use a power cord, do not attachthe charger or cord to other objects. Doing so could result inmalfunction or damage to the product.LC-E17E
