This does not indicate damage.● Keep your fingers away from the microphone (1) while shootingmovies. Blocking the microphone may prevent audio from beingrecorded or may cause the recording to sound muffled.● Avoid touching camera controls other than the movie buttonand touch-screen controls when shooting movies. Soundsmade by the camera will be recorded. Touch-screen control isrecommended when adjusting settings while shooting movies.● The sounds of the lens and camera operating are also recorded.This can be reduced by using an external microphone (soldseparately) (= 157).● If using a lens that supports Dynamic IS (= 78), the imagedisplay area changes and subjects are enlarged once movierecording begins to allow correction of significant camera shake.To shoot subjects at the same size shown before shooting, adjustthe image stabilization setting (= 78).Still Images● An orange AF frame is displayed with [ ] if the camera cannotfocus when you press the shutter button halfway. No picture istaken, even if you press the shutter button all the way down.● When no people or subjects are detected, when the subjectis dark or has no contrast, or in extremely bright conditions, itmay take longer to achieve focus, or correct focus may not beachieved.● A blinking [ ] icon warns that images are more likely to beblurred by camera shake. In this case, mount the camera on atripod or take other measures to keep it still.● If your shots are dark despite the flash firing, move closer to thesubject. For details on the flash range, see “Internal Flash RangeGuide” (= 196).● To reduce red-eye and to assist in focusing, the lamp may be litwhen the shutter button is pressed halfway in low-light conditions.● If the flash fires, vignetting may occur depending on the lensbeing used.● A blinking [ ] icon displayed when you attempt to shootindicates that shooting is not possible until the flash has finishedrecharging. Shooting can resume as soon as the flash is ready,so either press the shutter button all the way down and wait, orrelease it and press it again.● Although you can shoot again before the shooting screenis displayed, your previous shot may determine the focus,brightness, and colors used.● The display shown right after shooting and before the savedimage is shown will feature vignetting.● You can change how long images are displayed after shots(= 47).
