[Clean now ] may not be available for selectionimmediately after cleaning.● If there is dust or any other material on the image sensor thatthe cleaning function cannot remove, contact a Canon CustomerSupport Help Desk.Cleaning ManuallyIf there is dust or dirt on the image sensor that the cleaner cannot remove,try to clean it manually using a commercial blower or other device.The image sensor is an extremely delicate component. If manual cleaningis required, consulting with the Canon Service Center (listed in theappendix) is strongly recommended.1 Turn the camera off.2 Detach the lens.3 Clean the image sensor.● The image sensor is an extremely delicate component. Exercisecare when cleaning.● Do not use a blower equipped with a brush. Brushes can damagethe image sensor upon contact.● Do not insert the blower into the lens mount surface. This candamage the shutter.● Do not clean with high-pressure air or gas. High-pressure airflowcan damage the image sensor, and condensing or freezing gascan damage the image sensor surface.● If the blower still fails to clean the image sensor, having thesensor cleaned by a Canon Service Center is recommended.2 Configure the settings.● Press the [ ][ ] buttons or turn the [ ]dial to choose [Disable], and then pressthe [ ] button.Activating the Cleaner1 Access the setting screen.● After turning the camera on in shootingmode, choose [Sensor cleaning] on the[ 3] tab and press the [ ] button.● Press the [ ][ ] buttons or turn the [ ]dial to choose [Clean now ], and thenpress the [ ] button.2 Clean the sensor.● Press the [ ][ ] buttons or turn the [ ]dial to choose [OK], and then press the[ ] button.● The screen will indicate that the sensoris being cleaned. Although there will be ashutter sound, a picture is not taken.● The sensor cleaning also works while no lens is attached. If nolens is attached, do not insert your finger or blower tip beyond thelens mount. This is to prevent damage to the shutter curtains.
