Therecorder uses it to display video.Bit rateIndicates how many bits of data can be processed ortransmitted in a unit of time. Generally, the units are inbps, or bits per second. Used to indicate the com-pression rate of video and audio data, and how muchdata a communications line can send and receive in 1second.Camera operationOperations of the camera connected to the recordersuch as pan and tilt (horizontal and vertical position),zooming, focusing, brightness (iris adjustment), pre-set motions (movement towards a set horizontal andvertical position) and auto functions (automatic cam-era rotation, etc.).Day & Night (IR/electrical)Day & Night (IR) is a function to switch on black andwhite optically with an infrared filter inserted, and Day& Night (electrical) is a function to switch on blackand white with the image processing of the camera.DDNS (Dynamic DNS)A technology for dynamically translating DNS serverinformation to enable the transfer of only differencesin information between DNS servers (refer to "DNS").Default gatewayNetwork device used as a gateway for networks, such as a local network, to access PCs on an exter-nal network.DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)A protocol that enables PCs to automatically getinformation from a server needed for accessing a net-work.Digital zoomThe function that enlarges live images and playbackimages during playback. The digital zoom enlargesthe images by the recorder and is separate from thezoom function included as part of the camera opera-tions for enlarged images.DNS (Domain Name System)The long lists of numbers or IP addresses that areused in network environments are difficult to remem-ber, which makes them impractical. This is why PCsare given an easy-to-follow name (domain name)which is converted to an IP address before they arecommunicated with. The DNS provides translationbetween domain names and IP addresses.Emergency recordingA function to prioritize image/audio recording usingthe external switch connected to the recorder forwhen emergencies occur.EventIndicates an occurrence that causes the recorder totake an event action.
