13-22 Troubleshooting Chapter 13If a Power Cut OccursIf power is suddenly lost due to a power cut or accidental unplugging, a built-inbattery retains the FAX’s settings. However, any documents stored in memory willbe lost.During a power cut, functions are limited as follows:• You cannot make telephone calls from the optional handset. Also, depending onthe telephone, you may not be able to make telephone calls.• You cannot send, receive, or copy documents.• You can receive telephone calls from the optional handset or telephoneconnected to your unit. When power is restored, the FAX automatically prints a MEMORY CLEARREPORT that lists the documents that were deleted from memory as a result of thepower cut.NoteIf the toner cartridge is empty or there is no paper in the multi-purpose tray when power isrestored, the LCD displays CHANGE CARTRIDGE or LOAD PAPER. In these cases, theMEMORY CLEAR REPORT will not be printed even after the toner cartridge is replaced orpaper is loaded.27/12 2002 16:48 FAX 123 4567 CANON 001MEMORY CLEAR REPORTTX/RX NO MODE CONNECTION TEL/ID PGS.
