12-2 Maintenance Chapter 12Periodic CleaningThis section describes the necessary cleaning procedures for your FAX. Please notethe following before cleaning your unit:• Be sure to disconnect the power cord before cleaning the FAX. Since documentsin memory are erased when the power is disconnected, print or send anydocuments stored in memory before disconnecting the power cord (1 p. 9-5).• Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning; they canstick to the components or generate static charges.Cleaning the FAX’s ExteriorFollow this procedure to clean the FAX’s outer casing:CautionNever use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemicalcleaner to clean the interior of the FAX; these can damage the unit’s components.1 Disconnect the power cord from the FAX.2 Wipe the FAX’s exterior with a clean, soft,lint-free cloth moistened with water or diluteddishwashing detergent solution.3 When you are finished, reconnect the powercord.
