13-8 Troubleshooting Chapter 13LCD MessagesThe following messages are displayed in the LCD when the FAX is performing atask, or when it encounters an error. The error code appears in the ACTIVITYREPORT (1 p. 11-3).Messsage Error Code Cause ActionAUTO REDIAL — The unit is waiting to redialthe other party’s faxnumber because the linewas busy or the other partydid not answer when youtried to send the document.Wait for the unit to automaticallyredial the fax number (1 p. 7-9).BUSY/NO SIGNAL #018 The fax/telephone numberyou dialled is busy.Try sending the document at a latertime.The fax number dialledwas incorrect.Check the fax number and dial again.The other party’s faxmachine is not working.Contact the other party and have themcheck their fax machine.The other party is not usinga G3 fax machine.Contact the other party to check thatthey are using a G3 fax machine.The telephone line typesetting on your unit isincorrect.Set your unit for your telephone linetype (1 p. 3-8).The receiving fax machinedid not answer within55 seconds (after allautomatic rediallingattempts).Contact the other party and have themcheck their fax machine.
