8-11Receiving FaxesChapter 8Receiving FaxesReceiving While Performing Other TasksThe FAX is a multitasking device so it can receive faxes and voice calls while youare performing other tasks.If the FAX cannot print a received fax because it is performing another task thatprevents it from doing so, it will receive the fax in memory. Then, as soon as itcompletes the other task, the FAX automatically prints the received fax frommemory.Receiving Faxes in Memory When a ProblemOccursIf the FAX encounters a problem when it is receiving a fax, it automatically stores theunprinted pages of the fax in memory. It then displays REC’D IN MEMORY as wellas one or more messages in the LCD. For an explanation of the message(s) and detailson the action to take, see p. 13-8.Cancelling ReceivingFollow this procedure if you want to stop receiving a fax before reception iscompleted:Note• The FAX’s memory can store up to approximately 256 pages.*• You can set the unit so that it does not store faxes in memory if a problem occursduring reception (1 MEMORY RX, p. 14-7).• Once the problem is solved and the unit prints the received fax, it will delete the faxfrom memory.• If the unit’s memory becomes full while receiving a fax in memory, you will not beable to receive the remaining pages. Contact the other party and ask them to resend theremainder of the fax.1 Press Stop.• The FAX asks you to confirm that youwant to cancel receiving.2 Press T to cancel receiving.• Receiving is not cancelled until youpress T.• If you change your mind and want tocontinue receiving, press #.CANCEL?
