9-12 Special Features Chapter 9Cancelling Polling ReceivingTo cancel polling receiving, follow the same procedure as for cancelling receiving(1 p. 8-11).Polling SendingIn polling sending, your FAX holds a document in its polling box so that other faxmachines can retrieve it.You may find polling sending convenient in the following situations:– A company department might store a document in the FAX so that otherdepartments can retrieve it if they require that document.– When you want the other party to retrieve a document from your FAX at theirconvenience.– When you want the other party to bear the transmission cost of receiving adocument from your FAX.Setting Up the Polling BoxThis section explains how to set up the FAX’s polling box so that you can scan adocument into it for other fax machines to retrieve it.Before setting up the polling box, be sure to read the following:• You can set an ITU-T standard password for the polling box to restrict beingpolled only by fax machines that have this exact password (see the instructionsthat follow). Make sure you contact the other party to inform them of yourpassword. Do not set a password if the other party’s fax machine does notsupport password transactions.• Your FAX can be set to hold the document in its polling box until it is polled byone fax machine, or it can be set to continue to hold it so that several faxmachines can retrieve the document (see below for details).Follow this procedure to set up the polling box:1 Open the one-touch speed dial panel.2 Press Data Registration.3 Press Set.4 Use N or M to select POLLING BOX.DATA REGSTRATIONUSER SETTINGSPOLLING BOX
