However, you must always fly an approachas it appears on the approach plate.• The active leg (or the portion of the approachcurrently in use) is depicted in magenta on theMap Page. As you fly the approach, the 400W-series unit automatically sequences through eachleg of the approach unless “SUSP” appears abovethe OBS key. “SUSP” indicates that automaticsequencing of approach waypoints is suspended onthe current leg and normally appears at holdingpatterns and upon crossing the missed approachpoint (MAP).• For roll steering autopilots: roll steering is ter-minated when approach mode is selected on theautopilot and is available once the missed approachis initiated.• Auto-Suspend is active for Vectors To Final (VTF)until on the “TO” side of the FAF and the aircraftground track is within a 45° course of the publishedin bound course. At this point, it will automaticallyextinguish. This is a new feature with the 400W-series.• For all approaches and departures, make sure torecheck the runway, transition, and all waypoints. If ATC directs you to make a change, recheck eachelement again.Points to Remember for Localizer or VOR-based Approaches• The default factory setting allows the CDI output toautomatically switch from the GPS receiver to theLOC receiver. This may be changed to manual insome installations. If the “ILS CDI Selection” settingis changed to “Manual”, you must determine whento select “GPS” or “VLOC” guidance during theapproach. Remember, “VLOC” is required for thefinal course segment from Final Approach Fix (FAF)to MAP.NOTE: Installations with certain autopilots, suchas the KAP 140 and KFC225, do not allow auto-matic ILS CDI switching.• If the CDI output has not automatically switchedfrom GPS to ILS upon reaching the FAF, you mustmanually switch to the VLOC receiver by pressingthe CDI key. Verify that “VLOC” is displayed directlyabove to the CDI key.• Automatic switching of CDI output is availablefor ILS, localizer, SDF and LDA approaches. Auto-matic CDI switching is not available for backcourseapproaches or VOR approaches.• When flying an approach with the autopilot coupled, you must monitor system functions at all times andverify that the autopilot and external CDI (or HSI)switch to the VLOC receiver with sufficient time tocapture and track the approach course. Switchingto “VLOC” late in the approach may not provide theautopilot enough time to respond and intercept theapproach course prior to the FAF (depending upon
