7-2Setting TAM MODESetting TAM MODE allows you to receive telephone messages and fax transmissions while the fax isunattended. When you cancel TAM MODE, any new telephone messages will be played automatically.When TAM MODE is set and a call is received, the fax will respond as described below.1 Press [TAM] to set TAM MODE.• When you set TAM MODE, the TAM LED lights up and theoutgoing message is played.• When you cancel TAM MODE, the TAM LED switches off.If you have any new telephone messages, the messages areplayed automatically.• To cancel TAM MODE, press [TAM] again.Note• NO OGM is displayed on the LCD when no outgoing message has been recorded. You must recordan outgoing message before you can set TAM MODE (see p. 7-1).• A maximum of 55 messages, including an outgoing message, alternative message and voicememos, with a total maximum recording time of 10 minutes can be recorded. You can set amaximum recording time of 120 seconds for each telephone message (see p. 7-3).• If you have any new telephone messages, the TAM LED blinks and the number of messagesappears on the LCD.• The date and time when the telephone message was recorded, the number of telephone messagesand the number of the message being played (ICM No.) are displayed whenever a message isplayed.1 The fax will ring 2 or 5 times, when TOLL SAVER isset to ON, depending on whether there are anytelephone messages (see p. 7-5).When TOLL SAVER is set to OFF, you can specify thenumber of times the fax will ring.2 The outgoing message is played to the other party.3 If the other party sends a fax after they leave amessage, or if the call is a fax call, the fax isreceived automatically.NoteWhen the fax is set to MANUAL MODE and MAN/AUTO SWITCH has been set to OFF, TAMMODE will be activated if the fax rings 15 times and the call is not answered (only when an outgoingmessage has been recorded).
