9-159 SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PROBLEMSLCD messagesThe following messages are displayed on the LCD when the fax is performing a function or encounters anerror. The error code appears in the activity report (see p. 8-7).Message Cause ActionAUTO REDIAL The fax is waiting to redial thereceiving number because theline was busy or the receivingparty did not answer when youtried to send the document.Wait for the fax to automaticallyredial the number. If you want tocancel automatic redialling, waituntil the fax starts dialling thenumber, and press [Stop](see p. 5-9).BUSY/NO SIGNAL The telephone number youdialled is busy. (#018)Try sending the document at alater time.The fax number dialled wasincorrect.Check the fax number and dialagain.The other party’s fax machine isnot working.Contact the other party andhave them check their faxmachine.The other party is not using aG3 machine. Contact the other party and askthem to send or receive thedocument using a G3 machine.The touch tone/rotary pulsesetting on your fax is incorrect.Set your fax to the setting thatmatches your telephone line(see p. 1-12).The receiving fax machine didnot answer within 55 seconds(after all automatic rediallingattempts).Contact the receiving party andhave them check their faxmachine. You can try to sendthe document using manualsending (see p. 5-4). For long-distance call, add pauses to theregistered number (see p. 5-8).CARTRIDGE JAMMED The cartridge holder cannotmove. This is normally due to apaper jam.Clear the paper jam or whateveris obstructing the cartridgeholder and then press [Stop]and start again. Do not attemptto move the cartridge holdermanually.The scanner unit may not be inthe fully upright position.Press the document releasebutton, then gently move thescanner unit to the fully uprightposition.
