5-2 Receiving Faxes Chapter 5Receiving DocumentsDuring reception of a fax:m If the unit runs out of paper or if the toner cartridge runs out of toner,the MultiPASS receives the remainder of the document in memory.m To stop receiving before the document is complete, press STOP.m If the ALARM light is flashing for any reason, correct the error andthen press STOP. If necessary, see Chapter 10, Troubleshooting.m If an error occurs, the MultiPASS beeps intermittently for a fewseconds. If this happens, contact the other party and have them resendthe document.Receiving Documents Automatically Fax Only ModeWhen you set up the MultiPASS for a dedicated fax line, the unitautomatically receives the document whenever a call comes over the faxline. If a voice call comes in, the caller will hear the fax tone.Receiving Both Documents and Telephone CallsAutomatically FaxTel ModeIn FaxTel Mode, the MultiPASS monitors all incoming calls over thetelephone line. When the MultiPASS receives an incoming call, it checksto see if the call is from another fax machine trying to send a document orfrom someone wanting to talk to you. You must have a telephoneconnected to the MultiPASS to use this mode.How FaxTel Mode WorksIn FaxTel Mode, the MultiPASS does not ring when it receivesa call from another fax machine that is trying to send a document.This is so that you are not disturbed when your MultiPASS iscommunicating with another fax machine. The unit automatically receivesthe document.If the call is from a person, the MultiPASS rings to alert you to pick up thephone. You must pick up the telephone connected to the MultiPASS.
