75TroubleshootingENGLISHLCD MessagesThe following messages are displayed on the LCD when the fax is performing a function orencounters an error. “!!CHECK!! 5100” “!!CHECK!! 5B00” AUTO REDIAL BUSY/NO SIGNALCause ActionMovement of the FINE CartridgeHolder is blocked.Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the FINE CartridgeHolder from moving, then turn off the machine and turn it back on again.There may be an obstruction that is notallowing the Cartridge Holdermechanism to move.Check for any obstruction (paper clip, small object, etc.) and also that theprotective tape are removed from the FINE Cartridge. Check also for a paperjam and clear the jam if necessary (see page 66). Then press [Stop] and startagain.The FINE Cartridge may be defective. Press [Stop]. Reinstall the FINE Cartridge (see the Easy Setup Instructions) andstart again.In either case, if the error does not clear, try unplugging the fax. Wait severalminutes, then plug it back in. Also, try replacing the FINE Cartridge with a newone (see page 56).During printing, the FINE Cartridgeprint head may have become too hot.Allow the fax to cool down. The fax will resume printing when it has cooleddown.An error requiring servicing might haveoccurred.Turn OFF the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from thepower supply. After a while, plug the power cord of the machine back in and turnON the machine. If the same error occurs, contact a Canon servicerepresentative.Cause ActionThe ink tank (which holds the ink usedfor print head cleaning) may be full.Contact a Canon service representative as early as possible.Cause ActionThe fax is waiting to redial the receivingnumber because the line was busy orthe receiving party did not answerwhen you tried to send the document.Wait for the fax to automatically redial the number. If you want to cancelautomatic redialing, press [Stop] (see page 24).Cause ActionThe telephone number you dialed isbusy.Try sending the document at a later time.The fax number dialed was incorrect. Check the fax number and dial again.The other party’s fax machine is notworking.Contact the other party and have them check their fax machine.The other party is not using a G3machine.Contact the other party and ask them to send or receive the document using aG3 machine.The touch tone/dial pulse setting onyour fax is incorrect.Set your fax to the setting that matches your telephone line (see page 10).The receiving fax machine did notanswer within 55 seconds (after allautomatic redialing attempts).Contact the receiving party and have them check their fax machine. You can tryto send the document using manual sending (see page 19). For long-distancecall, add pauses to the registered number (see page 23).
