Chapter 9. Diagnostics412 PACSystems* RX7i, RX3i and RSTi-EP CPU Programmer's Reference Manual GFK-2950C9.4.12 Battery Status (Group 18)Faults in this group occur when the CPU detects a failed battery (or Energy Pack).Action: Non-configurable.0, Failed BatteryCPUs with battery-backed RAM, including RX7i CPUs, and RX3i CPU310, CPU315, CPU/CRU320and NIU001The battery in the CPU module has failed or is disconnected. If the battery is disconnected, this fault is logged for all CPU types and all supported battery types.Should a Smart Battery fail during operation, this fault is logged for all CPU types. When used with alegacy (non-smart) battery, this indication is not reliable.CPE302, CPE305 and CPE310The Energy Pack has failed or is disconnected.CorrectionReplace the battery or Energy Pack. For instructions on replacing the battery, refer to thePACSystems Battery and Energy Pack Manual, GFK-2741.1, Low Battery – CPUs with Battery-Backed RAMThis fault is supported only by the CPU versions listed in the PACSystems Battery and Energy PackManual, GFK-2741.The CPU detects the low battery condition only while the CPU is powered up.If a low battery condition occurs while the CPU is powered down, the CPU logs a Low Battery faultupon power-up as soon as it detects the signal from the smart battery. While the CPU is powered up, it is unlikely that a Low Battery fault will be detected because thecurrent drain on the battery is negligible. The exception is when a good battery is replaced with a lowbattery while the CPU has power. In this case, a Low Battery fault would indicate that a good batteryhas been accidentally replaced with a depleted battery. The Controller fault table indicates the battery status. For details of LED operation of specific CPUs,refer to PACSystems RX7i, RX3i and RSTi-EP CPU Reference Manual, GFK-2222.When a Failed Battery fault is logged, this fault is also logged.CorrectionReplace the battery. For instructions on replacing the battery, refer to the PACSystems Battery andEnergy Pack Manual, GFK-2741.1, Low Battery – CPE302/CPE305/CPE310/CPE330 CPUs with Energy PackThe Status LED and the Controller fault table indicate the Energy Pack status.PLC_BAT(%S0014)LOW_BAT(%SA0011)Energy Pack Status0 0 Energy Pack connected and operational (may be charging)1 1 Energy Pack not connected or has failed0 1 Energy Pack is nearing its end-of-life and should be replaced.
