It allows you to generate a hardcopy printout of all thecharacters, carriage control information, channel status, tapelabels, and other information in the data stream, while a job isbeing transmitted and printed.Starting and ending tape dump sessionsTo print a dump of an offline job you wish to troubleshoot, followthese steps:1. Specify the DFLT JDE and the DUMP JDL on the Tape Clientwindow at the controller. (The DUMP JDL, which was loadedon your system at installation, contains the VOLUMEHOST=DUMP and CODE=EBCDIC commands as well asthe DFLT JDE.)2. Run the job you intend to troubleshoot.3. Terminate the dump session by clicking the End button onthe Tape Client window.Offline dump format and contentEach command directs the printer to perform an operation orprovides control information used during printing. The dumpformat for each of these commands contains a HEADER andDATA segment.• If a tape read error occurs while the system is reading thetape for the dump, and the system skips the block containingthe error and continues reading the tape, the error isindicated in the dump following the problem block.• When the system encounters a tape mark while formatting forthe dump, the tape mark is indicated following the blocknumber.• The dump of each block, tape mark, error status, end ofvolume, or end of data is separated by at least one blank printline.
