It allowsyou to generate a hardcopy of the command and datatransmission between the host computer or the magnetic tapeand the printing system while a job is being transmitted andprinted.Online dumpThe online dump provides a printout of all the command anddata transmission taking place between the host computer andthe printing system.Starting and ending online dump sessionsTo print a dump of an online job you wish to troubleshoot, followthese steps:1. Specify the DFLT JDE and the OLDUMP JDL on the OnlineJob Manager window at the controller. (The OLDUMP JDL,which was loaded on your system at installation, contains theVOLUME HOST=OLDUMP and CODE=EBCDIC commandsas well as the DFLT JDE.)2. Run the job you intend to troubleshoot.3. Terminate the dump session by clicking the End button onthe Online Job Manager window.Online dump format and contentEach host command directs the printer to perform an operationor provides control information used during printing. The controlinformation could be printed with carriage control only or printercontrol, such as load FCB. All print commands and some controlcommands transmit data to and from the printing system. Thedump format for each of these commands contains a HEADERand DATA segment. The HEADER segment consists of thefields shown in the following table.
