-34-FORMATTING THE DISCThe DVD-RAM Disc requires formatting before it can beused for storing data. Follow the procedures describedbelow to format the DVD-RAM Disc on the DiscRecorder.Note: This recorder is only designed for use with 2.6 GBtype of DVD-RAM disk, and any other disk can notbe used with this recorder.1. Turn on the Power Switch located on the rear of theDisc Recorder.2. Press the Disc Cover and Control Panel to open thecovers located on the front of the Disc Recorder.3. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the Control Panelto slide out the disc tray.4. Confirm that the disc is write enabled, then insert itwith the disc label first into the tray.5. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the Control Panelto slide in the tray.6. Press the (–) and (+) buttons simultaneously forabout 2 seconds. The LOGICAL FORMAT menushown below appears.If the disc loaded is not formatted, the LOGICALFORMAT menu appears automatically on the moni-tor screen.7. Move the cursor to the FORMAT parameter in themenu by pressing the or button, then con-firm that the parameter EXECUTE is selected.8. Press the SET button to start formatting. Formattingwill be completed in about 30 seconds.9. To stop formatting, press the SET UP/ ESC buttonfor about 2 seconds.10. To unload the disc, press the OPEN/CLOSE buttonto slide out the tray. Then press the OPEN/CLOSEbutton again to slide in the tray.11. Close the Disc Cover and Control Panel.OPERATING PROCEDURESPROTECTPUSH OPENDVD-RAM DiskOPERATESETT/L MODE– FORMAT +OPEN/CLOSEWRITE ENABLEDDisc TraySET UP/ESCLOGICAL FORMATFORMAT EXECUTEVOLUME LABEL *DISC PASSWORD *START : PRESS SET KEY* * * FORMATTING PLEASE WAIT * * * Logical Format MenuThis menu lets you specify the logical format forrecording and playback of the DVD-RAM Disc onthe Disc Recorder.It also allows you to make the following settings.Format Password Setup: For setup and verificationof a password allowing access to the disc for-mat.Refer to Password Setup on page 31 for details.Volume Label Setup: For assigning a volume labelto the disc currently loaded in the DiscRecorder.Refer to Label Setup on page 30 for details.Disc Password Setup: For setup and verification ofa password allowing access to specific records.Physical Format Window: See below.Note: If the PASSWORD is attempted for the FOR-MAT parameter in this menu, it is disabled for-matting the disc.Press the SET button to display the Passwordmenu, then verify the password. After these pro-cedures, start formatting the disc.
