UBI Stand-Alone Concept4HOW TO USE THIS MANUALThis manual is intended to contain all informationnecessary for installing and programming a UBIStand-Alone printer without any assistance fromthe distributor.Since some information is particular for each printermodel, this manual is supplemented by the User'sManual and the Technical Description for theprinter model in question.Being designed to fulfil the demands of manydifferent applications, the UBI Stand-Alone Con-cept contains a lot of functions, some of which maynot be of immediate interest to you. Furthermore, the printer's operator may not be concerned withother functions than ordering the printing of prepro-grammed labels, possibly after having added cer-tain input data, whereas the installer or systemmanager will require information on setup, backup, layout editing etc.The list on the following pages contains all imagi-nable steps in consecutive order, from unpackingthe printer via the editing and printing of a label tothe backup on a personal computer. Each stepcontains a reference to another manual or a page inthis manual, where you can find in-depth informa-tion on the subject, should you be interested. To facilitate the training of operators, who will notconcern themselves with other tasks than printinglabels or entering input data, you will find a QuickReference Guide at the end of this manual. Cut it outand post it at the printer. Before you start, please take a quick look at thedescription on how to use the various keys and at thegraphic illustrations of the Stand-Alone Concept onpages 9–16.
