8-8 Receiving Faxes Chapter 8Receiving Faxes Automatically: FAX ONLY MODEIf you have a separate telephone line for fax use only, connect your machine to this lineand set FAX ONLY MODE. Your machine will answer all calls as fax calls.Setting FAX ONLY MODEFollow this procedure to set the receive mode to FAX ONLY MODE:1 Open the one-touch speed dialing panel.2 Press Data Registration.3 Press Set.4 Use ∂ or ¨ to select RX SETTINGS.5 Press Set.6 Use ∂ or ¨ to select RX MODE.7 Press Set.8 Use ∂ or ¨ to select FAX ONLYMODE.9 Press Set.10 Press Stop to return to standby mode.11 Confirm that FaxOnly is displayed inthe LCD.• If FaxOnly is not displayed, press ReceiveMode repeatedly until FAX ONLY MODEis displayed. After a few seconds, theLCD returns to standby mode.The machine treats all incoming calls as fax calls. It receives faxes automatically anddisconnects any voice calls.nThe machine does not ring when it receives a fax call. If you want to be alerted when a faxcall is received, connect the handset or an extension telephone to the machine, and enablethe INCOMING RING setting (1 p. 14-7).
