8-6 Receiving Faxes Chapter 8Receiving Faxes Manually: MANUAL MODESet this mode if you only have one telephone line that you use mainly for voice calls,and only occasionally to receive faxes.You can activate reception directly from your machine, or if your telephone is locatedaway from your machine, you can dial the remote receiving ID on the telephone toactivate reception (this is called Remote reception).Setting MANUAL MODEFollow this procedure to set the receive mode to MANUAL MODE:1 Press Receive Mode repeatedly untilMANUAL MODE is displayed.• After a few seconds, the LCD changesto this display:Receiving a Fax ManuallyFollow this procedure to receive a fax manually:1 Make sure Manual is displayed in theLCD.2 Make sure you have connected thehandset or extension telephone toyour machine (1 p. 2-8).3 When you hear the handset orextension telephone ring, pick up thehandset.■ If you hear a long beep tone or silence:4 Someone is trying to send you a fax.Press Start/Copy on your machineand hang up to begin receiving thedocument.• If you are using the extension telephoneand it is located away from yourmachine, dial 25 (the default remotereceiving ID) on your telephone andhang up.12/27 Manual12/27 ManualMANUAL MODE
