11ENGLISH(Original instructions)u Holding the auxilary handle and main handle firmly, lowerthe tines into the soil.u Pull backward on the tiller so the tines can more easilybreak the surface of the soil.u Once the surface of the soil has been broken, continueforward at a slow pace until you are familiar with thecontrols and the handling of the tiller.u Till the soil in overlapping rows. Push the tiller in verticallines, then till horizontally across the vertical lines toensure an even coverage.u If the tines become jammed, remove the battery pack fromthe appliance.u Wearing gloves, remove the obstruction from the tines.Note: For some jams you will need to use a screwdriver ora stick to remove the debris. Do not try to clear the tines bytapping the gear housing on the ground. Doing so could bendthe tines or damage the appliance.u If the tine shaft becomes jammed, remove the batterypack from the appliance.Inspect the tine shaft to see which side is jammed.u Wearing gloves, remove the clip pin and washer. Thenslide the tines off the tine shaft.u Wearing gloves, remove debris or other obstructionswrapped around the tine shaft.u Once the jam is clear, clean the tine shaft of any dirt with adamp rag.u The tines are keyed and only correctly install one way sothat the hole for the clip pin is exposed as shown in fig. D.u Wearing gloves, slide the tine onto the tine shaft andinstall the washer and then the clip pin.Preventing corrosionFertilizers and other garden chemicals contain agents thatgreatly accelerate the corrosion of metals. If you use thetool in areas where fertilizers or chemicals have been used,the tool should be cleaned immediately afterwards. Wipe allexposed parts with a damp cloth. You may lubricate only metalparts with a light petroleum based oil.When cleaning, DO NOT immerse tool in water or squirt it witha hose.MaintenanceYour BLACK+DECKER corded/cordless appliance/tool hasbeen designed to operate over a long period of time with aminimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory opera-tion depends upon proper tool/appliance care and regularcleaning.Your charger does not require any maintenance apart fromregular cleaning.Warning! Before performing any maintenance on corded/cordless power tools:u Switch off and unplug the appliance/tool.u Or switch off and remove the battery from the appliance/tool if the appliance/tool has a separate battery pack.u Or run the battery down completely if it is integral and thenswitch off.u Unplug the charger before cleaning it. Your charger doesnot require any maintenance apart from regular cleaning.u Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your tool/applianceand charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.u Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth.
