TELETEXT Operation29Teletext news and entertainment services are only available on certain broadcast channels. The timetaken to display the pages and sub-pages is set by the teletext transmitter and not by this television.Teletext is also used for Closed Captioning of television programmes for the hearing impaired. Closedcaptions can be found on Teletext Page 801.Not all broadcast stations transmit closed captions or teletext in the same way. Some, but not all, of themethods are listed below:1. A teletext screen appears and the closed captions are accessed like any other teletext page.2. The picture remains on the screen while you type in 801.3. The picture disappears while you type in 801. The picture stays black until the page is reached.4. The picture disappears while you type in 801. The picture stays black until a programme containingclosed captions is broadcast.Some broadcast stations will have a message on the screen to tell you that closed captions are notavailable for this programme. Some broadcast stations give you no indication at all.TOP (Table Of Pages) MODEIn TOPTEXT mode, the red button moves to the previous page number and the green button moves tothe next page number. The yellow and blue buttons correspond to different subjects. Pushing thecoloured button can access these subjects. This is the current preferred method of operation in Australia.FASTEXT MODEIn FASTEXT mode, four differently coloured subjects are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Toaccess more information about one of these subjects, push the corresponding colour coded button on theremote control. This is the current preferred method of operation in New Zealand.LIST MODEIn LIST mode, four different coloured page numbers are shown at the bottom of the screen. Each of thesenumbers can be altered and stored in the TV’s memory. These coloured page numbers correspond to thecolour coded buttons on the remote control.BUTTON WHAT IT DOESPAGE NUMBERSThese buttons allow you to directly enter the page number that you want toview.TV/TEXT TV / TEXTPressing this button switches the screen between TV and TELETEXT.F.P. F.P. (FAVOURITE PAGE)This feature will store a favourite page in the TV memory.1. The TV must be in the LIST mode, receiving a teletext broadcast andthe programme number must be between 1 and 25.2. Press LIST/F TEXT button to change TELETEXT modes (see page 30).2. Push the Blue button.3. Select the page number.4. Push and hold the LIST STORE button.5. The page number is now stored.Push F.P. to recall this page.TIME TEXT *When a Page has more than one screen (sub-page) of information, you mayhave to wait for some time before the sub-page you require becomesavailable.
