Failure to heed thisadvice could corrupt the settingfile on the Memory Card VideoRecorder or the management dataon the P2 card.LCD panel• Do not place the unit on thedashboard or other location wheretemperature is excessively high orlow. Otherwise a chemical reactionto the LCD panel will result andthe unit may be damaged.• At low temperatures the displaygoes dark and becomes lessresponsive while reproduction ofmovement appears to slow downand the picture quality is degraded.However, these phenomena are anacceptable part of LCD technologyand are not malfunctions.• The presence of red, blue orgreen dots on the screen is not amalfunction, but a characteristicpeculiar to LCD displays.An LCD panel is a product ofhigh-precision technology. For thisreason, it is an accepted fact thatwhile 99.99 % or more of its pixelswill function normally 0.01 % mayeither be dead or constantly lit.• S u d d e n c h a n g e s i n i n - c a rtemperature, for example, causedby turning on the air conditioningmay generate condensation (waterdrops) on the inside of the LCDpanel fogging it up and preventingnormal operation. Should thishappen, wait one hour for thedisplay to clear.MaintenanceTo clean the recorder, turn thevehicle’s ignition switch to the LOCK(OFF) position, and keep the recorderpower turned off (see page 13).• Do not use solvents such asbenzene, thinner or alcohol, asthese can deform the case ordamage the surface finish.• Use a soft, dry cloth to dust offthe recorder. If severely soiled,wipe it with a cloth moistened witha weak solution of mild syntheticdetergent and wrung out, andafterwards wipe with a dry cloth.• If using a chemically treated cloth,follow the instructions providedwith it.Periodic maintenance(Servicing & testing)Performing necessary periodicmaintenance (servicing & testing)allows you to feel at ease using theunit, and keeps the unit running inoptimal condition.Because maintenance ensuresstable functionality and performance,in addition to preventing troublesdue to part degradation, werecommend purchasing a periodicmaintenance contract.The interval and costs for performingmaintenance, moreover, will varydepending on the circumstances,duration, environment, etc., in whichthe unit is used.For detailed information on paidperiodic maintenance, consult yoursupplier.(Consumable) parts requiringmaintenance:LCD backlightDuration before maintenance(replacement):10,000 hours or moreOperating Precautions
