If your notebook has only one battery and it isnot plugged into an AC outlet, you must turn the notebook off whilechanging the battery.Replacing the main batteryTo replace the main battery:1 If your notebook is on and is connected to AC power or has a chargedsecondary battery installed, go to Step 2.-OR-If your notebook is on, is not plugged into an AC outlet, and doesnot have a charged secondary battery installed, save your work andturn off the notebook.2 Close the LCD panel.3 Disconnect your notebook from the optional port replicator (see“Disconnecting from the port replicator” on page 86).4 Turn your notebook over so the bottom is facing up.Warning Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.Replace only with a battery specifically manufactured foryour Gateway notebook. Discard used batteries accordingto the manufacturer’s instructions.The battery used in this device may present a fire orchemical burn hazard if mishandled. Do not disassemble,heat above 212°F (100°C), or incinerate. Dispose of usedbattery promptly. Keep away from children.
