Connecting to a Computer66Transferring Still Images – DirectTransferWith the supplied USB cable and DigitalVideo Software, you can transfer stillimages to a computer simply by pressing(print/share).PreparationsThe first time you connect the camcorderto the computer, you need to install thesoftware and set the auto-launch setting.From the second time on, you will onlyneed to connect the camcorder to thecomputer to transfer images.1 Install the supplied Digital VideoSoftware.See Installing the Digital VideoSoftware in the Digital Video Softwareinstruction manual (electronic versionon PDF file).2 Set the camcorder tomode.3 Connect the camcorder to thecomputer using the USB connection–connection type ( 64)– shownin the previous section PCConnection Diagrams.See Connecting the Camcorder to aComputer in the Digital VideoSoftware instruction manual(electronic version on PDF file).4 Set the auto-launch setting.• See Starting CameraWindow(Windows) or Auto-downloading(Macintosh) in the Digital VideoSoftware instruction manual (electronicversion on PDF file).• The direct transfer menu appears onthe camcorder screen and thebutton lights up.IMPORTANT When the CARD access indicator is on orflashing do not perform the following actions.Doing so may result in permanent data loss.- Do not open the memory card slot cover anddo not remove the memory card.- Do not disconnect the USB cable.- Do not turn off the camcorder or the computer.- Do not change the position of the /switch or the operating mode. Operation may not work correctly dependingon the software and the specifications/settingsof your computer. The image files on your memory card arevaluable, original data files. If you wish to usethe image files on your computer, make copiesof them first, and use the copied file, retainingthe original.NOTES We recommend powering the camcorderusing the compact power adapter.
