Getting StartedPreparationsE19• You can also use the compact poweradapter without attaching a batterypack.• When the compact power adapter isconnected, even if a battery isattached its power will not beconsumed.O NCE THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED1 Disconnect the compact poweradapter from the camcorder.2 Unplug the power cord from thepower outlet and the compactpower adapter.TO REMOVE THE BATTERY PACKSlide down to releasethe battery pack, and pull out thebattery pack holding it from the ridgeon its bottom part.IMPORTANT You may hear some noise from the compactpower adapter during use. This is not amalfunction. We recommend charging the battery pack intemperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C (50 °Fand 86 °F). Outside the temperature range of0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to 104 °F), the charging willnot start. Do not connect to the camcorder’s DC INterminal or to the compact power adapter anyelectrical equipment that is not expresslyrecommended for use with this camcorder. To prevent equipment breakdowns andexcessive heating, do not connect the suppliedcompact power adapter to voltage converters foroverseas travels or special power sources suchas those on aircraft and ships, DC-AC inverters,etc.NOTES If you connect a faulty power adapter orbattery pack, the CHG (charge) indicatorflashes approx. twice per second and thecharging stops. The CHG (charge) indicator also serves as arough estimate of the battery charge status.Continuously on: Battery fully charged.Flashes approx. twice per second: Battery over50% charged.Flashes approx. once per second: Battery lessthan 50% charged. The charging time will vary depending on thesurrounding temperature and the battery pack’sinitial charge condition. In cold places, theeffective usage time of the battery willdecrease. We recommend that you prepare batterypacks 2 to 3 times longer than you think youmight need. U.S.A. and Canada only: The lithiumion/polymer battery that powers thisproduct is recyclable.
