Connecting to a TV or VCR62Digital Video DubbingYou can input video from other digitalvideo devices and record the input videoon the tape in the camcorder. Video inputwill be recorded on the tape in the samestandard of the original (HDV or DV).POINTS TO CHECKSet [PLAYBACK STD] to [ AUTO]( 34) before making the connections.ConnectingConnect the camcorder to the video inputsource using the digital connection–connection type ( 57)– shown inthe previous section ConnectionDiagrams.Dubbing1 Load a blank cassette in thiscamcorder.If “AV DV” is displayed, set[AV DV] to [ OFF] ( 33) .2 Connected device: Load therecorded cassette.3 Press .4 Connected device: Start theplayback.• In record pause mode and whilerecording you can check the picture onthe camcorder’s screen.• When the connection is recognized“ HDV/DV” will be displayed. Whenthe video input starts the display willchange to “ HDV-IN” or “ DV-IN”depending on the video input.5 When the scene you wish to recordappears, press .Recording starts.6 While recording, press topause the recording.In record pause, press again toresume recording.7 Press to stop recording.8 Connected device: Stop theplayback.IMPORTANT Blank sections may be recorded asanomalous picture. If the picture does not appear, disconnect theDV cable and restore the connection after ashort while or turn the camcorder off and thenon again. Do not connect any devices to thecamcorder’s USB terminal while an externaldevice is connected to the HDV/DV terminal. You can only record video signals in HDVstandard (1080i specifications) or in DVstandard. Note that signals from identicallyshaped DV (IEEE1394) terminals may be indifferent video standards.NOTESWe recommend powering the camcorder usingthe compact power adapter.Copyright SignalCertain software tapes are copyrightprotected. If you attempt to play back suchtape, “COPYRIGHT PROTECTEDPLAYBACK IS RESTRICTED” appears andyou will not be able to view the contents ofthe tape. If you attempt to record from suchtape via the HDV/DV terminal,“COPYRIGHT PROTECTED DUBBING( 10)2REC PAUSE///
