To ensure the best quality scanned item, wipe the scanner glasswith a soft, dry, clean cloth to rid the glass of dust or other debris.If any residue remains after wiping the glass with a dry cloth, try adding afew drops of Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to the cloth and wipe offthe residue.Clearing Paper JamsIf your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the AutomaticDocument Feeder, a warning dialog box opens after a few moments.Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover. Remove the jammed paperand close the cover.To reduce the number of paper jams, smooth and straighten paper beforescanning, adjust the guides to the paper size, and insert the paper evenlyinto the ADF.NOTE: If lines appear on the images scanned with the ADF, but not onthe Flatbed glass, the raised, thin plate of glass used by the ADF maybe dirty. This plate is at the side of the glass and has the whitereference frame. When pages are pulled through the ADF duringscanning, this thin glass plate is where the images are captured by thescanner.Clean the raised, thinplate of glass here iflines appear onscans from the ADF,but not from theFlatbed glass.
