86 Adjustments and Settings for Recording: Adjusting and setting the LCD monitor1 Turn on the POWER switch of the unit.2 Slide the OPEN button in the arrow 1 direction to openthe LCD monitor in the arrow 2 direction.3 Adjust the angle of the LCD monitor for most convenientviewing.The monitor can turn up to 180 degrees towards thelens and up to 90 degrees towards you.¡NoteTo prevent unit failure, do not allow undue force to beapplied to the monitor (when it is open).4 The options BRIGHTNESS, COLOR LEVEL, andCONTRAST show respectively the brightness, colorlevel and contrast of the screen. These options can befound in the screen on the SYSTEMSETTING page.5 Through the menu option VFR/LCD CHAR, specifywhether or not the LCD should display the samecharacters as the viewfinder.This menu option can be found in the screen on the SYSTEM SETTING page.¡Notesy When closing the LCD monitor make sure that it isshut tight.y In an environment with sudden temperature changes,condensation may form on the liquid crystal surface ofthe monitor. If this happens, wipe off the moisture witha soft, dry cloth.y When the unit is very cold, the video image in the LCDmonitor will appear slightly darker immediately afterthe power is turned on. Once the interior of the unitwarms up, the LCD monitor delivers normalbrightness.When shooting with the LCD display angled 180 degreestowards the lens, you can set the menu option SELFSHOOT to “MIRROR”, to horizontally flip the video image onthe LCD display, and allow you to view a mirror image whileshooting.Note that only the video image on the LCD monitor ishorizontally flipped, not the actual video being recorded.The menu option SELF SHOOT can be found in the MONITOR> screen on the SYSTEM SETTING page.¡Notesy When the LCD monitor is angled 180 degrees towards thelens with the menu option SELF SHOOT to “MIRROR”,the LCD monitor does not provide the same statusindication as the viewfinder, regardless of the setting forthe menu option VFR/LCD CHAR.y Return signals from the GENLOCK IN connector cannotbe output to the LCD monitor.y When the OUTPUT SEL switch of MON OUT is in the[CAM] position, playback cannot be output to the LCDmonitor.
