The DVCPRO connector is output only.The DVCPRO connector can be connected to an externaldevice for backup recording to control the start and stop ofrecording.1 When connecting the 1394 (DV) cable, see[30. DVCPRO connector] (page 22).Set the 1394 CONTROL menu option on the <1394SETTING> screen on the SYSTEM SETTING page to“BOTH”.2 Through the 1394 CMD SEL menu option, select thetype of stop recording command to be received by theexternal device.3 Through the REC TALLY menu option on the MODE> screen, select how the recording status of theunit should be indicated. Note that the recording statusof the external device is indicated with a red tally LED.¡Notesy When the Fire Store FS-100, manufactured by Focus, isused as external storage, the VITC UB MODE menuoption on the screen on the MAIN OPERATIONpage can be set to “FRM RATE” to allow the FS-100 toindicate the shooting frame rate of the unit on its display. Itis also possible to add the same USER CLIP NAME of theunit to the record clip of the FS-100.y Note that when recording a backup with an externaldevice connected to the unit during Rec run mode andthere is insufficient storage space on the P2 card insertedinto the unit, the time code output from the DVCPROconnector will not advance from that point.y When the AVC-Intra format, DVCPRO HD Native mode orINTERVAL REC mode is selected, it is impossible tocontrol any external devices through the 1394 connection.y When connecting the 1394 (DV) cable, see [30. DVCPROconnector] (page 22).y The AV signals may be disrupted by turning the power ofthe connected devices on and off or by disconnecting andre-connecting the I/F cables.y It may take several seconds for the system to operatestably when the operation is transferred from one mode toanother.Perform recording operation after the system operationhas stabilized.y For signals output from the IEEE1394 interface, theFRONT AUDIO LEVEL control on the side panel isdisabled.y When the unit is controlled through PC applicationsoftware, etc., take note of the following.– Software must be used under the condition where theunit thumbnail screen is closed. The applicationsoftware may not be able to apply control when thethumbnail screen is open.y During special playback, video and audio signals whichhave not been processed as the output signals of theIEEE1394 interface will be output. When these video andaudio signals are monitored on another device, they maybe at variance from the video and audio signals which areplayed back by unit.y When there is a problem with the connection of theDVCPRO connector, “1394 E-92” will be displayed in thedisplay window.
