If the vehicle is in P (Park)press the shift lock releasebutton while pulling the shiftlever back.. D will illuminate in red.. After releasing the shift lever,it will return to the centerposition.To shift out of D (Drive):1. Bring the vehicle to acomplete stop.2. Shift to the desired gear.3. After releasing the shift lever, itwill return to the center position.Downshifting the transmission inslippery road conditions could resultin skidding. See “Skidding” under Lossof Control 0 175.M : This mode can be entered fromD (Drive) by pulling back on the shiftlever. The M in the shift pattern willilluminate red, and the D will switchto white. After releasing the shiftlever, it will return to the centerposition. M (Manual Mode) allowsgears appropriate for current drivingconditions to be selected.To exit M (Manual Mode) and returnto D (Drive), pull back on the shiftlever. The D in the shift pattern willilluminate in red, and the M willswitch to white. Therepair will not be covered by thevehicle warranty. If the vehicle isstuck, do not spin the tires.
