Generaltroubleshootin9Before calling a service technician, please check thischapter for a possible cause of the problem and somesolutions you can try.Black box on-screen• The closed caption feature is set to one of theText modes (T1, T2, T3, or T4). Set the closedcaption feature to Off (_a_,page 38).TV stops responding to controls• If the TV stops responding to the controls onthe remote control or TV control panel and youcannot turn off the TV, press and hold POWERon the TV control panel for 5 or more seconds toreset the TV.• If you cause a static discharge when touchingthe TV and the TV fails to function, simply unplugthe TV from the AC outlet and plug it back in.The TV should return to normal operation.Other problems., If your TV's problem is not addressed in thisTroubleshooting section or the recommendedsolution has not worked, use the Reset FactoryDefaults procedure (_. page 29).TV will not turn on,, Make sure the power cord is plugged in, and then_WERpress @.,, The remote control batteries may be dead. Replacethe batteries or try the control panel buttons.Picture problemsGeneral picture problems,, Check the antenna/cable connections(L_÷Chaa__er 2).,, Press _ on the remote control or TV andselect a valid video input source (_z page 30).If no device is connected to a particular inputon the TV, no picture will display when youselect that particular input source. Tryanother channel.,, Adjust the picture qualities (_z page 38).Video Input Selection problems,, If the Input Selection window does not appearwhen you Ks _ on the remote control orTV, press/_ a second time, which will changeto the next video input source and display theInput Selection window.Cannot view external signals or channel 3 or 4,, If you cannot view signals from external devicesconnected to VIDEO, ColorStream ®HD, HDMI 1,HDMI 2, PC or from channels 3 or 4, make surethe Input Lock is set to Off (_a_,page 44).Noisy picture• If you are watching an analog channel (off-air broadcast or Cable TV), you can setthe CableClea¢ _ feature to reduce visibleinterference in the TV picture (_a_,page 54).72Poor color or no color• The station may have broadcast difficulties. Tryanother channel.Adjust the Tint and/or Color (_. page 38).Poor composite pictureIf the TV is connected to an external A/V device(e.g., DVD player, video game system, set-topbox, etc.) try using a ColorStream or HDMIvideo connection instead.Picture and sound are out of syncAs with all products that contain a digital display,in rare instances, when viewing certain content(e.g. television broadcasts, video games, DVDs),you may notice that the sound and picture areslightly out of sync. This phenomenon can becaused by various factors including, withoutlimitation, video processing within the TV, videoprocessing in an attached gaming system, andvideo processing or different compression ratesused by broadcasters in their programming.You may want to try one or more of the followingsuggestions, which may help to reduce theeffect of this phenomenon:- If the TV is connected to an A/V receiver thathas a programmable audio delay feature,use this feature to help synchronize thesound to the picture.- If you notice this phenomenon only oncertain TV channels, please contact yourlocal broadcast, cable, or satellite provider toinform them of this issue.Sound problemsCheck the antenna/cable connections (L_÷Chapter 2).The station may have broadcast difficulties. Tryanother channel.The sound may be muted. Press VOLUME.If you hear no sound, try setting the MTS featureto Stereo mode (L_÷page 40).If you are not receiving a second audio programfrom a known SAP source, make sure the MTSfeature is set to SAP mode (_. page 40).If you hear audio that seems "incorrect" for theprogram you are watching (such as music or aforeign language), the SAP mode may be on. Setthe MTS feature to Stereo mode (_. page 40).Remote control problems,, Remove all obstructions between the remotecontrol and the TV.,, The remote control batteries may be dead.Replace the batteries (L_÷page 21 ).,, if the TV still does not act as expected, use theReset Factory Defaults procedure (_a_.page 29).Channel tuning problems,, The channel may be locked by the ChannelOptions feature. Unlocked the channel (_a_.page 44).,, if you are unable to tune digital channels, checkthe antenna configuration (_. page 26).
