P FeaturesParalleled TelephoneDescription Any proprietary telephone can be connectedin parallel with astandard telephone. The following two combinations of telephonesare available:(l)APT + Standard Telephone (an analog proprietarytelephone and a standard telephone/device)(2)DPT + Standard Telephone (a digital proprietary telephoneand a standard telephone/device)When a parallel connection is made, an extension user can makeand answer a call using either telephone.Conditions l The proprietary telephone (PT) can be used to perform normaloperations whether or not the standard telephone is enabled.l In the DPT + standard telephone combination, if one telephone goesoff-hook while the other telephone is on a call, the call is switched tothe former.l In the APT + standard telephone combination, if one telephone goesoff-hook while the other telephone is on a call, a three-party call isestablished. If one user goes on-hook, the other user continues the call.l When receiving a call;The standard telephone is activated; Both the PI and the standardtelephone will ring except when the PI is in Handsfree Answerbackmode or Voice Alerting mode.The standard telephone is deactivated; PI rings but the standardtelephone does not ring. However, the standard telephone can answerthe phone.l When the standard telephone is in operation, the display and LEDindicator on the paired PT will work in the same way as if the PT is inoperation.l If APT + standard telephone are used, the extension user cannotoriginate a call from the standard telephone if the APT is:- playing BGM- in programming mode- receiving a paging announcement over the built-in speaker.l If extra Device Port feature is available, a DPT+ standard telephonecan act as completely different extensions.l Call Waiting tone can be heard only by PT.l If a standard telephone with a Caller ID feature is connected in parallel,the Caller ID feature will not function.Connection References Section 2, Installation2.3.4 Paralleled Telephone Connection3-116 Features
