_______________________________________ Configuration 6-29Toner Cartridge ControlIf your printer does not produce the rich, black images that youexpect, try redistributing the toner in the cartridge and adjusting theprint density before replacing the toner cartridge.Redistributing TonerIf you have not used the toner cartridge in several days, toner mayhave settled. Remove the cartridge from the printer, shake thecartridge gently to redistribute toner. Replace the cartridge in theprinter. See “Toner Cartridge” in chapter 2.Adjusting Print DensityYou can increase or decrease the amount of toner laid down by theprinter using the print density dial.Note: The amount of toner used increases as printer dial settingsmove from low (L) to high (H). Printing with too high asetting shortens the life of the toner cartridge and maydegrade print quality.To adjust the print density dial1. Open the multipurpose feeder by grasping the handle in the topcenter of the cover and pulling down (fig. 6.12).Caution: The multipurpose feeder does not open to a 90°angle.
