Logical InstallationInstallation Manual 594.7 Create New UnitsOnce a new Group has been created, new units can be added to the group; Gateways *1 andGatekeepers*2 and Other Unit*3 . The Maintenance Console Software Unit Information SetupWizard is used to create both types of units in exactly the same manner.A new unit is shipped with the factory default IP addressing information (i.e., 192.168.1.200).Although this information can be used to establish a LAN type connection, it is usually easierto first reconfigure the unit's IP addressing information to match that of the existing LAN, usinga direct RS-232C serial cable connection.The Maintenance Console Software's Unit Information Setup Wizard method for doing this isdiscussed in the following procedures.If desired, once a unit has been created using this direct method, the unit setup information canbe edited remotely, using a network connection.*1 A Gateway is the KX-TDA0480 IP Gateway card.*2 A Gatekeeper is an H.323 device that is used to manage H.323 Voice-Over-IP networks. Only H.323 networks use a Gatekeeper.the IP Gateway networks may also be configured using internal DNS server management capabilities.*3 An Other Unit refers to Other Device excluding Gateway and Gatekeeper.
