Planning16 Installation Manual• Under high network load and poor transmission conditions, a fax communication may bedropped.• During a fax connection, the KX-TDA0480 sends a Ring Back Tone (RBT) until a faxconnection is achieved.2.1.4 DTMF DetectionThe KX-TDA0480 provides DTMF detection and regeneration capabilities.Characteristics• Sending units detect and convert DTMF tones for reliable TCP transmission.• Receiving units regenerate DTMF tones.• Assures accurate and reliable transmission when interfacing with Auto Attendant/VoiceMail or Interactive Voice Response systems.• Selecting the DTMF signal method which the KX-TDA0480 sends from among Auto,Alphanumeric, and Signal.Operational limits• When a unit is configured to use DTMF regeneration, the feature may introduce sometransmission delay. In most cases (Voice Mail, IVR, Auto Attendant), it will be the calling party which will needto send DTMF tones by dialling numbers. As a general rule it is best to avoid duplicatingdetection on two communicating KX-TDA0480. This can be accomplished by alwaysselecting the DTMF detect Outgoing parameter when using DTMF regeneration. In the example shown in DTMF Detection, two units use DTMF regeneration and areconfigured so that the feature is enabled only once irrespective of which unit initiatescommunications.DTMF DetectionIP NetworkVoice path usedIP-Gateway Card(DTMF Outgoing)IP-Gateway Card(DTMF Outgoing)IP-Gateway Card(DTMF Disabled)
