Logical Installation50 Installation Manual4.1 Logical Installation MethodsThere are several methods by which the logical configuration process can be performed.In all cases, each newly installed KX-TDA0480 must first be initialised with its new IPaddressing through a direct RS-232C link to the unit. Once a unit has been initialised , it ispossible to perform additional configuration tasks using one of the following methods.• Use the KX-TDA0480 Maintenance Console Software to configure and uploadconfiguration files. This can be done locally or remotely.• Configure OFDD.VHO and DNS.DAT files off-line and use an FTP link to upload theconfiguration files to a unit.• Configure a unit directly over a serial connection, line-by-line, using the terminalcommand line interface and on-line commands.In this section, all configuration tasks will be performed using the Maintenance ConsoleSoftware. Alternative methods for creating and uploading configuration files are described inAppendix A7 of this document.The following procedures are discussed in this section.• Install Maintenance Console Software• Start Maintenance Console Software and Login• Initialise Unit with Maintenance Console Software Setup Wizard• Create/Edit Common Configuration• Configure Unit Parameters• Transfer Files and Reboot Units
