Installing the BatteriesThe GPSMAP 60Cx operates on two AA batteries(not included), which are installed in the back of theunit. You can use Alkaline or NiMH batteries. Seepage 55 for information on setting the battery type.To install the batteries:1. Remove the battery coverby turning the D-Ring 1/4turn counter-clockwise andpulling the cover loose.2. Insert the batteries,observing the properpolarity. A polarity diagramis molded into the batterycompartment.3. Reinstall the battery coverby aligning the back coverwith the unit and turning theD-Ring 1/4 turn clockwise.Remove the batteries from your GPSMAP 60Cx whenyou do not expect to use the unit for several months.Stored data is not lost when batteries are removed.Note: Lithium batteries are not recommendedbecause the initial voltage of new batteries mayexceed 1.5 volts each, which may cause theGPSMAP 60Cx to turn off.To install the Lanyard:1.
