Data SecurityWe recommend observing the security precautionsdescribed in this section, in order to prevent thefollowing:– loss, disclosure, falsification, or theft of userinformation– unauthorized use of the unit– interference or suspension of use caused by anunauthorized partyWe cannot be responsible for damages resultingfrom the misuse of this product.User information is defined as the following:– Contacts’ names, phone numbers, and IPaddresses– Call logsPreventing Data Loss• Keep a copy of all important data (such as contactlists) in case the machine malfunctions and datacannot be recovered.• Use a personal computer to make periodic backupsof recordings stored on the SD memory card.Preventing Data Disclosure• Do not leave the unit or SD memory card in alocation where it can be accessed or removedwithout authorization.• Store backups in a secure location.• Do not store sensitive personal information in theunit.• In the following situations, initialize the unit (see"Data Maintenance" on page 166), and remove theSD memory card from the unit.– Before disposing of the unit– Before handing the unit over to a third party– Before having the unit serviced• Make sure the unit is serviced by only a certifiedtechnician.• The confidentiality of the information on the SDmemory card becomes the responsibility of thecustomer. To prevent data leakage, render the SDMemory Card physically unusable before disposal.• When user information is sent from the KX-NT400to a PC or other external device, the confidentialityof that information becomes the responsibility of thecustomer. Before disposing of the PC or otherexternal device, ensure that data cannot beretrieved from it by formatting the hard disk and/orrendering it physically unusable.Preventing Data Disclosure Over theNetwork• To ensure the security of private conversations,only connect the unit to a secure network.• To prevent unauthorized access, only connect theunit to a network that is properly managed.• Make sure all personal computers that areconnected to the unit employ up-to-date securitymeasures.For Bluetooth® HeadsetUsersMedical:Consult the manufacturer of any personal medicaldevices, such as pacemakers or hearing aids, todetermine if they are adequately shielded from externalRF (radio frequency) energy (the product operates inthe frequency range of 2.4000 GHz to 2.4835 GHz andthe power output is 2.5 mW [max.]). Do not use theproduct in health care facilities if any regulations postedin the area instruct you not to do so.
