5-6 Installing the Operating System with Express SetupCreating Partition SizeThe minimum size for the partition that the system is to be installed can be calculated from thefollowing formula.Size necessary to install the system + Paging File Size + Dump File SizeSize necessary to install the system = 2900MBPaging File Size (Recommended) = Mounted Memory Size × 1.5Dump file Size = Mounted Memory Size + 12MBIMPORTANT: The above paging file size is necessary for collecting debuginformation (memory dump). If you set the default value ofpaging file size smaller than the 'recommended' value, the accuratedebug information (memory dump) may not be collected. The maximum paging file size which can be set on one partition is4095MB. If the above paging file size exceeds 4095MB, specify4095MB for the paging file size. The dump file size for the system with more than 2GB memorymounted is '2048MB + 12MB'. If you install any application program or the like, add necessaryspace to the partition to install these programs. For example, if the mounted memory size is 512MB, the minimally required partition size will becalculated by the above formula as follows:2900MB + (512MB * 1.5) + (512MB + 12MB) = 4192MBRe-installing to the hard disk which has been upgraded to Dynamic DiskYou cannot re-install Windows Server 2003 with the current partition of the hard disk upgraded toDynamic Disk kept remained. If you want to keep the current partition remained, see Appendix D to re-install the system.Disk Configuration (Concerning the area displayed as "EISA")In disk area, an area displayed as "EISA" may exist. This area is maintenance partition for savingconfiguration information and utilities. Do not delete the area.
