Internal DatabaseThe GPS 92 uses an internal Jeppesen® database toprovide position and facility information for thousands ofairports, VORs, NDBs and intersections. Each facility inthe database is stored as a waypoint, with its own lati-tude/longitude, identifier (up to six letters and/or num-bers) and other pertinent information. There are threedatabase coverage areas available for the GPS 92. Theyare referred to as “Americas”, “Atlantic International”, andthe “Pacific International” databases.The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)and Aeronautical Radio, Inc. (ARINC) break the worldinto ten geographic regions. The GPS 92 Americas data-base contains aeronautical information for the group ofICAO regions consisting of North, Central, and SouthAmerica. The ‘Atlantic International’ database providesinformation for the ICAO regions of Europe, Africa,Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. The PacificInternational database gives information for the ICAOregions of Eastern Europe, Middle East, Pacific, andSouth Pacific.Waypoint CategoriesFive categories of waypoint information are availablethrough the M key. Each category provides differenttypes of detailed information for a selected facility:• Airports— Identifier, city/state, country, facilityname, position (lat/lon), elevation, fuel services,runways, and communications frequencies.• VORs— Identifier, city/state, country, facilityname, position (lat/lon), frequency and co-locatedDME or TACAN availability.• NDBs— Identifier, city/state, country, facilityname, position (lat/lon) and frequency.• Intersections— Identifier, region/country, posi-tion (lat/lon) and range/bearing to nearest VOR.• User— Identifier (name), position (lat/lon), usercomments and reference waypoint.To view the waypoint information for a desired way-point, select the waypoint category from the categoryfield, located at the top left of the waypoint page, next tothe identifier field.The GPS 92’s internalJeppesen database is avail-able with an Americas,Atlantic International, orPacific International data-base.
