Troubleshooting162The red ON/OFF (CHG) indicator flashes very slowly ( one flash at 2-secondintervals).- The temperature of the battery pack is outside its operating range (approximately 0 – 40 °C (32– 104 °F)). Remove the battery pack, warm it or let it cool down, as necessary, and try chargingit again.- Charge the battery pack in temperatures between approximately 0 °C and 40 °C (32 °F and104 °F).- The battery pack is damaged. Use a different battery pack.o appears on the screen- The LOCK switch on the Eye-Fi card is set to prevent accidental erasure. Change the positionof the LOCK switch.- An error occurred when trying to access control data on the Eye-Fi card. Turn the camcorderoff then on again. If the icon appears often, there might be a problem with the Eye-Fi card.Contact the card manufacturer’s customer care.Picture and SoundThe screen appears too dark.- The LCD screen was dimmed. Hold h pressed down for 2 seconds to restore the LCDscreen to its previous brightness setting.Screen displays turn on and off repeatedly.- The battery pack is exhausted. Replace or charge the battery pack.- Remove the battery pack and reattach it correctly.Abnormal characters appear on the screen and the camcorder does not operate properly.- Disconnect the power source and reconnect it after a short time. If the problem still persists,remove the battery pack and disconnect all other power sources from the camcorder. Then,press the RESET button with a pointed object to reset all the camcorder’s settings to defaultvalues.Video noise appears on screen.- Keep a distance between the camcorder and devices that emit strong electromagnetic fields(plasma TVs, cellular phones, etc.).Horizontal bands appear on the screen.- This is a phenomenon typical of CMOS image sensors when recording under some types offluorescent, mercury or sodium lamps. To reduce the symptoms, set the recording program to[Programmed AE] or [Shutter-Pri. AE] (0 62). This is not a malfunction.No picture appears on the viewfinder.- Pull out the viewfinder to activate it.- No picture will be output to the viewfinder if a cable is connected to the HDMI OUT,COMPONENT OUT or AV OUT/X terminal in playback mode. Remove the cable.Viewfinder picture is blurred.- Adjust the viewfinder with the dioptric adjustment lever (0 25).Audio cannot be recorded.- When using a microphone connected to the MIC terminal, make sure the microphone is turnedon. Also, make sure its battery is not exhausted.- The audio input switch is not set correctly (0 73) or the audio recording level is not setcorrectly (0 76).- An external microphone that requires phantom power is connected to the XLR terminal. Set theXLR terminal switch to MIC+48V (0 75).
