36 Using the Printer Chapter 3When selecting or loading paper, keep these guidelines in mind:o Attempting to print on damp, curled, wrinkled, or torn paper cancause paper jams and poor print quality.o Use cut sheet paper only. You cannot use multipart paper.o If the print density of your page is very high, light paper stock maycurl slightly due to the large amount of ink. If you need to print heavygraphics, try printing on a heavier stock.o Do not use thicker paper than meets the specifications for this printer.Printing with a paper that is thick enough to come in contact with theprint head nozzles may damage the print head. For complete paper specifications, see Appendix A, Specifications.Loading PaperYou can stack paper in the sheet feeder to load it automatically, or you canmanually feed one sheet at a time. The path that the paper travels throughthe printer is the same for automatic and manual feeding. You can place approximately 30 sheets of plain paper (20 lb or 75 g/m2) inthe sheet feeder at a time. You can print on coated papers, transparencies, and back print film. Theseare special papers that you may want to use for certain presentations. You can stack approximately 30 sheets of coated paper and 10 sheets oftransparency film or back print film in the sheet feeder. However, thesespecial media may not advance correctly under unusual environmentalconditions (such as extreme temperatures and humidity). If you havetrouble with special papers becoming skewed or feeding multiple sheets,do not stack them in the sheet feeder. Load them one sheet at a time.N Place at least one sheet of plain paper in back of a stack of transparencies orback print film.
