Refer to the device’s instructionsfor the DIP Switch Tables.3 Mount each device in the desired location.Refer to the device’s instructions.Run wires from the control panel to eachdevice on the polling loop (see Figure 3-14).No individual wire run may exceed thelengths shown in the following table.Maximum Polling Loop Wire RunsWire Gauge Max. Then power up andprogram them before connecting the next 25.Leave previously enrolled devices connected. If you intend to manually enter the serialnumbers through the keypad or throughCompass downloading software, all thedevices may be connected before poweringup to program.4192SDSMOKE4190RPM4278PIR2725 26+ -POLLING LOOP2928TO RIGHT LOOPpolling_loop-002-V0Figure 3-14: Polling Loop Connections to theControl PanelPolling Loop SupervisionA short on the polling loop is indicated by a trouble onzone 997 and reports as a trouble condition only. Ifannunciation is desired, program the zone as type 05 ortype 19.If a device on the polling loop fails (the panel cannot"see" that device), the system displays a troublecondition for all zones on that device. If the panel isarmed when a device fails, and the zone is a burglaryzone, the will go into alarmA trouble on zone 997 prevents a partition frombeing armed, unless all polling loop zones onthat partition are bypassed.Using the 4297 Polling Loop ExtenderThe 4297 Polling Loop Extender may be used to provideadditional polling loop current, to extend the pollingloop wire run length, and/or to provide individualelectrically isolated polling loops. Refer to Figures 3-15and 3-16, to follow.
